What is a champagne breakfast?

» Party Ideas | Tips and Info

One of the most popular party's is the champagne breakfast. Champagne breakfasts are especially popular amongst woman and their closest friends. It is often the preferred way to celebrate a birthday amongst girlfriends, especially those who do not have the obligation of a job. Some of us actually take leave to attend these special events. It has also become a favorite way to celebrate birthdays, mother's day and father's day. The best time for a champagne breakfast is around 10 am.

My friends and I often plan a champagne breakfast as a surprise birthday party. We often make the birthday a theme party with theme birthday gifts. Most of the themes have been linked with the gift theme. These are some of the birthday theme parties that we have planned: lingerie, bathroom specials and linen. However, you can be a bit more daring and choose themes such as the "wild wild west", vampire, "at the Oscars", etc.

A traditional champagne breakfast usually consists of three courses: an entrée, a hot main course and cheese and biscuits served with a variety of different teas and coffees.

Champagne should be served mixed with fresh orange juice. Let your guests mix their own drinks, that way they will be able to gauge the amount of alcohol they are consuming. Because alcohol is served at a champagne breakfast, it is a good idea to plan travelling arrangements for the guests before the party.

Here follows an example of a menu for a traditional champagne breakfast:

For the entrée:

Serve low fat yogurt; two flavoured and one unflavored. Serve crunchy muesli to sprinkle on top. Also, serve chopped fresh fruit, for example, banana, peach and apple. If fresh berries, such as strawberries, are available, they add more flavour to a scrumptious entrée. Serve the yogurt in glass bowls with soup ladles and the muesli and fruit in separate small bowls.

For the main course:

Serve crispy bacon, cocktail sausages with fried tomatoes and eggs. Instead of plain eggs, an alternative could be Welsh rarebit; fried bread soaked in egg.

End off the breakfast:

Serve a variety of different cheeses and dry biscuits. Digestive biscuits go down well at these get-togethers. Serve coffee and tea. A range of different teas and coffees should be on offer. There are many different flavored teas on the market today. Don't forget to include regular breakfast tea. Serve different coffees as well: such as cappuccino, café latté as well as decaf.
